Introducing A Spoonful of Pain

I am proud to call myself a disabled person.

Hello, I’m Alice but you can call me Al. I am a part-time wheelchair user with quite a collection of disabilities! I have been passionate about working alongside disabled people since I was a child: it was always my dream to work with children with disabilities. I volunteer with disabled children and young adults, and am studying Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at university.

With my experiences both personally and professionally, I have become more aware of the everyday ableism disabled people face, and have become incredibly passionate about this issue.

My goal is to one day become an advocate for disabled people and help them to fight for their fundamental rights and accommodations, and maybe even be able to influence the laws and policies to grant equality for the disabled community.

With A Spoonful of Pain, I aim to raise awareness of the inequalities disabled people face and hopefully help to change the way that disabled people are treated in society. I wish I could change the world but I know that a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.
